Behind the name

The Mad Decent Block Party has been taking place from many years, but in 2019 it made its debut as a complete festival. World-known DJ and record producer started the event like a block party in 2008 under his own company ‘Mad Decent’. The event first started as a way to promote his own dancehall music. It was a free block party in the locals of Philadelphia, where the company was first found. Later he moved Mad Decent to Los Angeles in 2010.

In one of the interviews during the tenth anniversary of the Mad Decent Block Party, Diplo mentioned he did not expect more than 100 people in their first every event. But they experienced over 2,000 people and even a police shit down.

What’s next?

The MDBP came back in 2019 as one of the biggest music festivals rather than a simple block party. Instead of a series of outdoor concerts around the city, this time it was a two-day festival that took place in Gillette Stadium. The likes of Troyboi, RL Grime, Zeds Dead and Rezz, Pusha T, A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie, and JID hosted the entire event with good music. The mainstream artists like G Eazy and Billie Eilish also perform in the event.

In the future, we will see MDBP as a music festival than a neighbourhood block party, which is going to be amazing.
